Marine Copper Nickel 70/30 Elbow 180 Deg SR Socket Weld Pipe Fitting ASME B16.9
1. Product Description
A copper nickel elbow is a directional fitting made of copper-nickel alloy, used to change the flow direction of the medium in a piping system. The commonly used materials are 90/10 copper nickel and 70/30 copper nickel, corresponding to UNS C70600 and UNS C71500. 90/10 copper nickel offers excellent seawater corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity, and high cost effectiveness. 70/30 copper nickel contains a higher nickel content and provides better strength, erosion resistance, and corrosion resistance for more demanding conditions.
Copper nickel elbows can be produced by seamless hot pressing, cold pushing, forging, or welding, and can be processed through solution annealing, pickling, and passivation. Common angles are 45°, 90°, and 180°. According to bending radius, they are divided into long radius and short radius. According to end connection, they are divided into butt weld, socket weld, threaded, press, flange, and bell end types. Products can generally be manufactured and inspected according to ASTM B466, ASTM B467, ASME B16.9, ASME B16.28, MSS SP-43, EEMUA 146, and other standards.
2. Product Applications
Copper nickel elbows are suitable for seawater, brine, fresh water, and various corrosive media piping systems. Main applications include:
Marine and offshore engineering: seawater cooling systems, fire water systems, ballast water systems, bilge systems, desulfurization systems, and domestic seawater piping.
Offshore oil and gas: offshore production platforms, floating production storage and offloading units, subsea pipelines, and seawater injection lines.
Desalination: seawater intake pipelines, reverse osmosis feed lines, and brine discharge lines.
Power generation: condenser cooling systems, circulating water pipelines, and cooling water systems.
Chemical industry: brine, alkali, non-oxidising acids, and chemical media transportation pipelines.
Other fields: liquefied natural gas facilities, hydraulic piping, HVAC systems, and general industrial piping.
3. Product Advantages
Excellent corrosion resistance: good resistance in seawater, brine, and many non-oxidising acids, with resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion, and erosion corrosion.
Anti-biofouling: the protective film formed on the copper-nickel surface helps inhibit marine organism attachment and reduces the risk of pipe blockage.
Good strength and toughness: capable of withstanding higher flow rates, pressure fluctuations, and vibration fatigue, suitable for long-term continuous operation.
Good thermal conductivity: suitable for heat exchangers, condensers, and cooling systems requiring efficient heat transfer.
Good fabrication and welding performance: easy to cold form, weld, and install, and can also be connected with certain other metals.
Long service life: the protective film becomes stable during service, resulting in low corrosion rates and reduced maintenance costs.
Flexible material selection: 90/10 copper nickel is economical and practical, while 70/30 copper nickel is suitable for more severe corrosion and erosion conditions.
Strong customizability: sizes, angles, wall thicknesses, connection types, and surface treatments can be customized according to customer requirements.
4. Product Functions
Changing medium flow direction: used in piping systems to achieve 45°, 90°, or 180° direction changes.
Completing pipe offset: enables pipe offset, misalignment correction, and rearrangement within complex spaces.
Connecting and sealing: connects pipes through welding, press-fitting, threading, or other methods to form a sealed piping system.
Reducing local resistance: long radius elbows provide smoother fluid transition, reducing turbulence, pressure drop, and wear.
Providing corrosion-resistant joints: serves as a key connection fitting in highly corrosive media, extending the service life of the entire piping system.
Adapting to complex layouts: helps the piping system achieve a reasonable route and reduces unnecessary connection points and installation space.
Facilitating maintenance and replacement: standardized dimensions and connection methods make installation, inspection, and replacement convenient.
