CuNi 70/30 Copper Nickel Bar Non-Magnetic Weldable ASTM B151 C71500
1.Product Description
Copper nickel bar is a solid rod material based on copper with nickel as the primary alloying element. Classified by nickel content, common grades include CuNi8 (~8% Ni), CuNi10 (~10% Ni), CuNi14 (~14% Ni), CuNi19 (~19% Ni), CuNi23 (~23% Ni), CuNi30 (~30% Ni), CuNi44 (~44% Ni), as well as ASTM grades C70600 (90/10 cupronickel) and C71500 (70/30 cupronickel). Manufactured from high-purity electrolytic copper and electrolytic nickel through vacuum melting, hot forging, multi-pass cold drawing, precision straightening and surface polishing, the bars offer tight dimensional tolerances and a smooth, defect-free surface. Applicable standards include ASTM B151/B151M, EN 12163, GB/T 4423, and ISO 9725.
2.Product Applications
Copper nickel bars are widely used across various industries due to their excellent comprehensive performance:
| Application Field | Typical Components |
| Marine & Offshore Engineering | Seawater cooling pipelines, valve stems, heat exchanger tube sheets, propeller shaft sleeves, submarine cable sheaths, offshore platform fasteners, marine pump shafts |
| Petrochemical Industry | Acid-resistant pump shafts, reactor agitators, evaporator heating tubes, tank inner lining strips, pipe flanges, corrosive media transfer fittings |
| Electric Power & Electrical | Resistance elements for high-voltage circuit breakers, shunts, transformer winding cores, thermocouple protection tubes, generator brush holders |
| Automotive & Precision Machinery | Hydraulic brake hard tubes, pneumatic connectors, precision gear blanks, plain bearing bushes, sensor housings, precision shafts for instruments |
| Cryogenic & LNG | LNG transfer line fittings, cryogenic valve components, air separation unit pressure conduits |
3.Product Advantages
-
Excellent corrosion resistance:Performs exceptionally well in seawater, chlorides, dilute sulfuric acid, alkalis and other corrosive media, with extremely low pitting and crevice corrosion tendency, and outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
-
High strength-toughness combination:Tensile strength ranges 380–620 MPa, elongation generally 25%–40%, combining high strength with excellent plasticity, good impact and fatigue resistance.
-
Erosion and cavitation resistance:Low corrosion rate in high-velocity seawater (≥5 m/s) and sand-containing media, with outstanding cavitation peeling resistance, suitable for pumps, valves, and pipelines under dynamic loading.
-
Excellent workability:Smooth machinability for turning, milling, drilling and tapping; good adaptability for hot bending and welding (TIG, resistance welding, brazing) without special process requirements.
-
Wide temperature stability:From -250°C cryogenic to +350°C high temperature, mechanical properties change gradually with no ductile-to-brittle transition, and good high-temperature oxidation resistance.
-
Long service life:Service life of 25–30 years in marine and chemical environments, with extremely low life-cycle maintenance costs.
