UNS C71500 CuNi 70/30 Reducing Tee BW Pipe Fittings ASME B16.5 Class150 Corrosion Resistant
1. Product Description
The Copper Nickel Reducing Tee is a high-performance pipe fitting manufactured from CuNi alloys, available in 90/10 (UNS C70600) and 70/30 (UNS C71500) grades. This T-shaped component features a full-size run inlet and two reduced-diameter branch outlets, allowing flow distribution and pipe size transition in a single, weld-free forging.
The fitting is engineered for demanding service conditions, combining excellent mechanical strength with outstanding corrosion resistance. Three end connection styles are offered: butt weld ends with precision-machined bevels (per ASME B16.25), socket weld ends with chamfered square cuts, and threaded ends with tapered NPT or BSP threads. A standard pickling and passivation treatment ensures a clean, oxide-free surface ready for installation.
2.Product Applications
-
Commercial shipping – engine cooling circuits, deck fire mains, ballast water treatment systems, and general service piping aboard cargo vessels, bulk carriers, and passenger ships.
-
Offshore production facilities – platform seawater supply, cooling water loops, and emergency firewater distribution networks.
-
Water treatment industry – seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) feed lines, concentrate discharge, and permeate transfer piping in desalination complexes.
-
Energy sector – condenser cooling circuits and auxiliary water systems in thermal, combined-cycle, and nuclear power generation.
-
Process industries – heat exchanger interconnecting pipework, HVAC chiller loops, and chemical transfer lines in refineries and manufacturing plants.
Suitable media: Raw and filtered seawater, brackish estuary water, freshwater, deionized water, low-pressure steam, instrument air, and petroleum derivatives.
3. Product advantages:
- Exceptional corrosion performance – with a seawater corrosion rate below 0.025 mm/year, CuNi fittings significantly outlast carbon steel and standard stainless steel grades. Field data confirms reliable service exceeding three decades.
- Built-in biofouling defense – the alloy's natural copper ion release creates an environment that deters marine organism attachment, drastically reducing the need for chemical antifoulants and mechanical cleaning interventions.
- High-velocity tolerance – the material withstands flow speeds up to 5 m/s in seawater without erosion or cavitation damage, ensuring stable performance in high-flow pump discharge applications.
- Ease of fabrication – CuNi alloys exhibit good hot-cracking resistance during welding. Using ERCuNi filler with TIG or MIG processes, with preheat (100–150°C) only required for wall thickness above 20mm.
- Complete documentation – every fitting is supplied with a certified mill test report; DNV, ABS, and Lloyd's third-party inspections are available on request.
- Sustainability – the alloy is 100% recyclable and contains no hazardous substances, supporting corporate environmental and ESG commitments.
