Cupro Nickel 70/30 Equal Tee UNS C71500 ASME B16.9 Seawater Pipe Fitting Butt Weld
1. Product Description
Copper Nickel Equal Tee is a three-port T-shaped pipe fitting with equal nominal diameters. It is made of copper-nickel alloy, typically UNS C70600 (90/10 Cu-Ni) and UNS C71500 (70/30 Cu-Ni). The fitting is manufactured by seamless or forging process and is designed for 90° branch connections in piping systems. It complies with ASME B16.9, ASTM B466/B467, MSS SP-43 and DIN 86086. The surface is usually pickled and passivated. The material combines good mechanical strength with excellent resistance to seawater and chloride-containing media.
2. Product Applications
-
Shipbuilding and marine engineering: seawater cooling systems, ballast water systems, fire fighting mains, bilge and sewage discharge systems.
-
Offshore oil and gas platforms: seawater lift pipes, platform equipment cooling, firewater ring mains, seawater injection systems.
-
Desalination plants: intake pipelines, brine circulation, reverse osmosis feed distribution, concentrate outfall.
-
Power plants: condenser cooling water systems, essential service water, circulating cooling water.
-
Petrochemical industry: transportation of chloride-containing, saline and weakly acidic media.
-
Coastal fire protection and HVAC systems: coastal fire facilities, large HVAC systems, marine seawater retrofit projects.
3. Product Advantages
-
Strong seawater corrosion resistance: forms a stable protective film in static and flowing seawater; corrosion rate is less than 0.025 mm/year in marine environments.
-
Natural anti-biofouling: releases trace copper ions continuously, helping prevent marine organism adhesion and growth without external coatings or electrolytic systems.
-
Good weldability: suitable for cold bending and flaring; no preheating or post-weld heat treatment is generally required.
-
High flow velocity resistance: can operate safely at seawater velocities up to 3.5 m/s.
-
Low maintenance and long service life: service life in marine environments can reach 25 years or more.
-
Cost-effective over life cycle: higher initial cost than carbon steel, but lower maintenance and longer service life reduce overall cost.
4. Product Functions
-
Split or combine flow: three equal openings allow one fluid stream to be divided into two or two streams to be merged into one.
-
Provide 90° branch connection: creates a perpendicular branch in pipeline systems.
-
Maintain balanced flow: ensures stable flow distribution among the three ports with low pressure loss.
-
Convey corrosive media safely: suitable for long-term transportation of seawater and other corrosive fluids.
-
Ensure system integrity: maintains structural strength and sealing performance under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions.
