CuNi 70/30 Copper Nickel Equal Tee ASME B16.9 Buttweld Fitting Corrosion Resistant Marine
1. Product Description
Copper Nickel Equal Tee is a T-shaped pipe fitting made from copper-nickel alloy, typically Cu-Ni 90/10 (UNS C70600) or Cu-Ni 70/30 (UNS C71500). It has three identical-diameter ports and is used for perpendicular branch connections in piping systems. The fitting is manufactured by forging or seamless process and complies with ASTM B466, ASME B16.9, MSS SP-43, and DIN 86086. The 90/10 alloy contains approximately 90% copper and 10% nickel, with controlled additions of iron and manganese. The 70/30 alloy contains 29–33% nickel and offers higher corrosion resistance in aggressive environments.
2. Product Applications
Shipbuilding and marine engineering: seawater cooling systems, ballast water systems, fire fighting mains, bilge and sewage discharge systems.
Offshore oil and gas platforms: seawater lift pipes, platform equipment cooling, firewater ring mains, seawater injection systems.
Desalination plants: intake pipelines, brine circulation, reverse osmosis feed distribution, concentrate outfall.
Petrochemical industry: transportation of chloride-containing, saline, and weakly acidic media.
Power generation: condenser cooling water systems, essential service water in nuclear plants, circulating cooling water in thermal plants.
Other fields: coastal fire facilities, large HVAC systems, marine seawater retrofit projects.
3. Product Advantages
Outstanding seawater corrosion resistance: forms a stable protective film in static and flowing seawater; pitting and crevice corrosion resistance far exceeds 316L stainless steel. Corrosion rate is less than 0.025 mm/year in marine environments.
Natural anti-fouling: continuously releases trace copper ions, effectively preventing marine organism adhesion and growth without external coatings or electrolytic systems. Biofouling attachment rate is more than 60% lower than 316L.
Excellent weldability: good ductility for cold bending and flaring; no preheating or post-weld heat treatment required; weld metal properties match the base metal.
High flow velocity tolerance: safe operation at seawater velocities up to 3.5 m/s, outperforming common copper alloys.
Life-cycle economics: slightly higher initial cost than carbon steel but maintenance-free or very low maintenance over service life; overall cost reduced by more than 40%.
Long service life: marine environment service life of 25 years or more.
4. Product Functions
Flow distribution and combination: three identical-diameter openings allow one fluid stream to be split into two or two streams to be combined into one.
Perpendicular branch connection: provides a 90° branch connection for perpendicular flow branching in pipeline systems.
Balanced flow: ensures balanced flow distribution across all three ports with minimal pressure loss and no turbulent flow.
Corrosion-resistant fluid conveyance: the copper-nickel alloy construction ensures safe conveyance of seawater and other corrosive media over extended periods.
System integrity: maintains structural integrity and leak-tight performance under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions.
