ASME B16.5 CuNi 70/30 Forged Socket Weld Flange Class 150 Marine Grade Corrosion Resistant
1.Product Description
Copper Nickel Flange (also known as Cu-Ni Flange or Cupronickel Flange) is a pipe connection component manufactured from copper-nickel alloy. It is a mechanical device with a rim-like structure used to connect, guide, or strengthen two components in a piping system. The flange features bolt holes around its circumference and is joined to pipes/fittings by bolting with specialized gaskets to ensure secure pressure-tight seals.
Copper Nickel Flanges are available in two primary alloy grades:
90/10 Copper Nickel (UNS C70600 / BFe10-1-1): Composed of approximately 90% copper and 10% nickel, with small additions of iron and manganese. This grade offers an effective balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and cost effectiveness.
70/30 Copper Nickel (UNS C71500 / BFe30-1-1): Composed of approximately 70% copper and 30% nickel, offering enhanced corrosion resistance and higher strength.
The flanges are manufactured through processes including forging, heat treatment, CNC machining, and non-destructive testing (UT/MT), with acid pickling and passivation surface treatment.
2.Product Applications
Copper Nickel Flanges are widely used in various industries and applications due to their exceptional corrosion resistance:
-
Marine and Shipbuilding: Seawater cooling systems, ballast water systems, fire-fighting systems, main and auxiliary engine cooling pipelines, and seawater piping systems for commercial and naval vessels.
-
Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms: Seawater delivery, fire-fighting, and ballast pipelines.
-
Desalination Plants: Reverse osmosis/evaporation unit seawater inlet and brine discharge pipelines.
-
Coastal Power Stations: Seawater cooling circulation system intake and discharge pipelines.
-
Heat Exchangers and Condensers: Cooling water systems in power plants and industrial facilities.
-
Chemical and Petrochemical Industries: Piping systems handling corrosive media.
-
Aquaculture: Seawater supply systems for fish farming.
-
General Industrial: Connecting pipes, pumps, valves, and other equipment to form a complete piping system.
3 · Product Advantages
-
Superior Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, chloride ion attack, salt spray, pitting, and crevice corrosion. 90/10 alloy corrosion rate is less than 0.025mm/year, while 70/30 alloy achieves even lower rates of ≤0.01mm/year, far superior to 316L stainless steel.
-
Anti-Biofouling: Copper ions naturally inhibit the attachment of marine organisms such as barnacles and algae, reducing pipeline clogging and maintenance requirements.
-
High Strength and Erosion Resistance: 70/30 alloy offers tensile strength ≥490MPa and yield strength ≥180MPa, with excellent resistance to high-velocity seawater erosion and cavitation corrosion.
-
Excellent Weldability and Fabrication: Good welding and processing properties, compatible with same-material CuNi pipes for perfect welded joints.
-
Low Magnetic Permeability: Ideal for applications requiring non-magnetic properties.
-
Long Service Life: Thermal stability up to approximately 300°C, with service life up to three times that of stainless steel.
-
Low Maintenance: The anti-corrosion and anti-biofouling properties significantly reduce long-term maintenance costs.
-
Comprehensive Standards Compliance: Manufactured to multiple international standards including ASME B16.5, GB/T 9119, DIN, EN-1092, and marine standards EEMUA 145.
