CuNi 70/30 Alloy Forged SWRF Flange Class150 ASME B16.5 for Marine Piping System
1.Product Description
Copper nickel flanges are forged corrosion‑resistant alloy flanges based on copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni). Owing to the unlimited solid solubility between copper and nickel, the material exhibits a single‑phase austenitic structure at room temperature, combining good strength, toughness and corrosion resistance. The flange blanks are made from vacuum‑degassed round steel bars through three‑step upsetting and drawing forging to ensure proper grain flow and isotropy, followed by solution annealing (controlled at 850℃~950℃) and rapid water quenching to relieve forging stresses and stabilise grain size. The finished flanges are machined on high‑precision CNC lathes, achieving sealing face roughness below Ra 1.6μm and bolt hole position tolerances within ±0.5mm. Material grades include BFe10‑1‑1 (B10, equivalent to UNS C70600) and BFe30‑1‑1 (B30, equivalent to UNS C71500). Supply complies with ASME B16.5, ASTM B171/B151, GB/T 9124, HG/T 20592, DIN 2501 and EEMUA 145, and non‑standard customisation is available according to customer drawings.
2.Product Applications
Designed for piping systems under severe corrosive environments, typical applications include:
-
Seawater cooling, ballast, firefighting and domestic water lines on ships and offshore platforms.
-
Circulating water inlet/outlet for condensers and auxiliary cooling systems in coastal and nuclear power plants.
-
Intake, discharge and intermediate pipelines in thermal and reverse‑osmosis desalination plants.
-
Water injection, crude oil transport and heat‑tracing pipeline connections in offshore oil and gas fields.
-
Process lines containing chlorides, hydrogen sulfide and weak acids in petroleum refining and chemical plants.
-
Clean piping in pharmaceutical, food and water treatment industries with strict ion‑release limits.
Furthermore, copper nickel flanges are commonly used as connection interfaces for heat exchangers, filters, expansion joints, pumps and valves, enabling standardised quick connection.
3 · Product Advantages
-
Comprehensive corrosion resistance: Extremely low uniform corrosion rates in seawater, brine and acidic chloride media; excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress‑corrosion cracking; better galvanic compatibility than most stainless steels.
-
Inherent antifouling: Trace dissolution of copper ions creates a bio‑inhibitive layer on pipe walls, retarding barnacle and algae adhesion without additional coatings.
-
Reliable mechanical performance: B30 has minimum tensile strength 490MPa, yield strength 180MPa, and impact energy (AKV) ≥60J at 0℃, capable of withstanding water hammer, vibration and temperature fluctuations.
-
Outstanding workability: Can be flame‑cut, cold‑bent, hot‑bent, turned, drilled and tapped; when butt‑welded to same‑material pipes, no preheating or post‑weld heat treatment is required, with weld joint efficiency above 0.9.
-
Favourable physical properties: High thermal conductivity (~29W/m·K) facilitates heat dissipation; coefficient of thermal expansion close to carbon steel (~16×10⁻⁶/℃), reducing thermal stresses in dissimilar metal joints.
-
Life‑cycle economy: Design life ≥30 years with extended maintenance intervals; overall cost much lower than stainless steel or titanium alternatives.
