Product Description

C71500 CuNi 70/30 Forged Socket Weld Flange ASME B16.5 Class150 Corrosion Resistant

1.Product Description

Copper nickel flange is a pipe connecting component made primarily of copper and nickel. Since copper and nickel are infinitely miscible in both solid and liquid states, forming a homogeneous α-phase solid solution structure, the alloy possesses excellent strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance. The product is manufactured from high-quality round bars or billets through integral die forging, followed by solution annealing to relieve internal stresses and refine grain size. Subsequent CNC turning, milling, and grinding operations complete the sealing faces and bolt holes, and finally an acid pickling and passivation treatment ensures a clean, contamination‑free surface. Commonly used grades include BFe10‑1‑1 (abbreviated as B10, equivalent to UNS C70600, i.e., 90/10 copper nickel) and BFe30‑1‑1 (abbreviated as B30, equivalent to UNS C71500, i.e., 70/30 copper nickel). The design and manufacturing comply with ASME B16.5, ASTM B171/B151, GB/T 9119, HG/T20592, DIN, and EEMUA 145, meeting the technical requirements of various domestic and international projects.

2.Product Applications

These flanges are primarily used in piping systems that convey seawater, brine, fresh water, and various mildly corrosive media. In shipbuilding, they are widely employed in main engine cooling, ballast, firefighting, and daily service seawater systems. In offshore engineering, they serve seawater lifting, water injection, and firefighting networks on platforms. In the power industry, they are particularly suitable for condenser circulating cooling water inlet and outlet connections at coastal power plants. In desalination plants, they undertake raw water intake and concentrated brine discharge pipeline connections. In addition, they play important roles in petrochemical, salt manufacturing, papermaking, and aquaculture industries. In summary, copper nickel flanges are key components for reliably connecting pipes to valves, pumps, heat exchangers, and various process equipment.

3 · Product Advantages

First, exceptional resistance to seawater corrosion. The alloy rapidly forms a dense and stable oxide film on the surface with strong self‑healing capability, exhibiting extremely low uniform corrosion rates in both static and flowing seawater – less than 0.025 mm/year for B10 and as low as 0.01 mm/year for B30, far superior to 316L stainless steel. Second, inherent anti‑biofouling properties. Slow release of copper ions effectively prevents barnacles, mussels, algae, and other marine organisms from adhering to flange surfaces and pipe walls, significantly reducing cleaning and maintenance costs. Third, high mechanical strength and good toughness. B30 has a minimum tensile strength of 490 MPa and yield strength of 180 MPa, capable of withstanding erosion and cavitation damage caused by high‑velocity seawater flow. Fourth, excellent workability and weldability. The material is ductile, easy to cold‑bend, expand, and machine; when welded to same‑material copper nickel pipes, the joint exhibits high strength and no cracking tendency. Fifth, low magnetic permeability with no magnetic interference, suitable for use near magnetic‑sensitive instruments and electronic devices. Sixth, long service life with a design life of up to 30 years, more than three times that of stainless steel fittings, offering outstanding overall economy.
