Product Description

Factory Direct Copper Nickel 70/30 Concentric Reducer ASME B16.9 Fast Delivery

1.Product Description

The Copper Nickel Reducer Fitting is a diameter-transition connector used in piping systems to join pipes of different sizes. It is manufactured from copper-nickel alloy, with standard grades including 90/10 type (UNS C70600, corresponding to BFe10-1-1) and 70/30 type (UNS C71500, corresponding to B30). The product is shaped through hot forging and solution heat treatment, featuring a precisely tapered internal bore that ensures smooth fluid transition during diameter changes. Structurally, the fitting is available in concentric and eccentric configurations – the concentric type is suitable for applications requiring centerline alignment, such as vertical risers or pump suction/discharge points; the eccentric type is commonly used in horizontal pipelines, maintaining a consistent bottom elevation to facilitate drainage of residual media upon system shutdown. The fittings are manufactured and inspected in compliance with ASME B16.9, DIN 86089, and GB/T 12459, with end connections offered in butt-weld, socket-weld, threaded, or flanged types, covering the vast majority of engineering connection requirements.

This product is primarily applied in piping systems that handle seawater, saline solutions, and corrosive chemical media. Specific applications include: cooling water, fire-water, and ballast water lines on commercial vessels (ocean-going bulk carriers, oil tankers, LNG carriers); process water lines on offshore engineering facilities; intake, pre-treatment, membrane-treatment, and brine discharge lines in desalination plants; circulating cooling water and auxiliary cooling systems at coastal power stations; heat-exchanger piping and corrosive material transfer lines in refineries and chemical enterprises; diameter-transition points in municipal water supply and wastewater treatment systems; and refrigeration/air-conditioning and circulating cooling water piping in large commercial buildings and industrial plants.

Performance attributes:

  • The addition of nickel significantly enhances the stability of the passive film, resulting in low susceptibility to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, with minimal localized attack even during prolonged immersion in quiescent seawater.

  • The material combines moderate hardness with good toughness, enabling it to resist erosive wear from sand-bearing seawater or fluids containing solid particles, maintaining a smooth internal surface even at elevated flow velocities.

  • Continuous slow release of copper ions from wetted surfaces creates a natural deterrent environment against algae, mollusks, and other aquatic fouling organisms, helping preserve the flow cross-section and reducing cleaning frequency.

  • The thermal expansion coefficient of the material is close to that of commonly used pipe steels, resulting in moderate thermal stresses at the joint during temperature cycling, which benefits the service life of welded joints and adjacent pipe connections.

  • With appropriate welding procedures and filler materials, the microstructure and properties of the weld metal can match those of the parent metal, with weld zones exhibiting corrosion resistance essentially comparable to the base material.

  • From a lifecycle perspective, copper-nickel alloy fittings offer significantly longer service lives than ordinary carbon steel and galvanized products under identical corrosive conditions; despite higher initial costs, overall economics are superior when considering replacement costs and downtime losses.

Functional roles:

  • As a diameter-changing element, it achieves smooth connections between large and small bore pipes, resolving installation difficulties caused by size mismatches.

  • Through the guiding effect of the internal taper, fluid velocity is gradually adjusted across the transition zone, preventing intensified turbulence or localized low-pressure regions caused by abrupt cross-section changes.

  • The eccentric configuration maintains a consistent bottom elevation in horizontal runs, allowing residual liquid to drain by gravity after system shutdown and facilitating smooth passage of cleaning pigs prior to commissioning.

  • Butt-weld ends, after fusion with the pipe body, form a continuous all-metal structure without detachable sealing elements, eliminating the risk of aging-related leakage and making them suitable for continuous production facilities.

  • Products are manufactured to nominal pressure ratings, allowing users to select the appropriate class according to system design conditions, ensuring safety under normal operation and short-term overpressure events.

  • All external and interface dimensions are machined to standard specifications, enabling direct connection with same-spec pipes and fittings without special field treatment, simplifying maintenance and replacement.
