Product Description

ABS Approved Copper Nickel 70/30 Eccentric Reducer Fittings for Offshore Platform

1.Product Description

The Copper Nickel Reducer Fitting is a functional component designed for diameter transition in piping systems, manufactured from copper-nickel corrosion-resistant alloys. Primary grades include 90/10 type (UNS C70600, BFe10-1-1) and 70/30 type (UNS C71500, B30). The fitting is produced through a sequence of processes including material cutting, heating, forging, machining, heat treatment, and surface finishing, resulting in a precisely tapered internal bore. Based on the relationship of flow-path centerlines, the product is divided into Concentric Reducers (coincident centerlines) and Eccentric Reducers (parallel but offset centerlines). The concentric configuration is intended for vertical risers or pump suction/discharge positions requiring precise center alignment; the eccentric configuration is designed for horizontal pipelines, maintaining a continuous flat bottom to facilitate liquid drainage or pigging operations. The products comply with ASME B16.9, DIN 86089, EEMUA146, and GB/T 12459, with end connections supplied in butt-weld, socket-weld, threaded, or flanged types according to customer requirements.

2.Product Applications

Owing to its excellent resistance to seawater and chemical corrosion, this product finds wide application in the following key industries and scenarios:

  • Waterborne transportation and offshore engineering equipment – used in fire-water systems, seawater cooling systems, ballast tank filling/drainage lines, and fresh water generator support piping aboard large ocean-going bulk carriers, chemical tankers, LNG carriers, and offshore oil/gas production platforms.

  • Desalination and water resource recovery facilities – applied in low-temperature multi-effect distillation, multi-stage flash evaporation, and reverse-osmosis desalination projects for intake systems, pre-treatment units, energy-recovery device connections, and brine discharge lines.

  • Power station auxiliary systems – supplied to circulating water systems, closed industrial cooling water systems, condenser cleaning devices, and auxiliary cooling circuits at coastal coal-fired stations, nuclear plants, and gas-turbine power stations.

  • Refinery and chemical process units – suitable for overhead condenser piping, air-cooler inlet/outlet connections, and caustic wash/water wash sections in delayed coking, fluid catalytic cracking, and hydrotreating units.

  • Municipal water supply and wastewater treatment systems – serving as diameter-transition elements in urban water distribution networks, secondary water supply facilities, large-scale wastewater treatment plants, and reclaimed water reuse projects.

  • Commercial and industrial refrigeration/air-conditioning systems – used for diameter-change connections in large water-chiller units, cooling-tower piping, ice-storage systems, and industrial-grade refrigeration stations.

3.Product Advantages

  • Strong general corrosion resistance – copper-nickel alloys exhibit low uniform corrosion rates in seawater and most neutral salt solutions, with annual penetration depths controllable within a very narrow range, suitable for extended maintenance-free operation.

  • Stable localized corrosion performance – the addition of nickel effectively enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly beneficial for areas prone to deposit accumulation or gasket contact surfaces where concentration cells may develop.

  • Prominent erosion resistance – the material possesses adequate hardness combined with appropriate ductility, demonstrating excellent resistance to abrasive wear in high-velocity fluids containing sand or debris, maintaining smooth internal surfaces without groove formation.

  • Biofouling inhibition function – continuous copper-ion release under wet conditions creates a natural bio-deterrent layer, significantly reducing flow losses and heat-transfer deterioration caused by marine organism attachment.

  • High weld-joint reliability – using matching filler metals and standardized welding procedures, grain growth in the heat-affected zone is controlled, with weld corrosion resistance essentially matching that of the parent metal, ensuring overall pipeline service life.

  • Extended service life benefit – under identical operating conditions, the service life of this alloy fitting is multiple times longer than that of ordinary carbon steel and galvanized products, reducing unplanned shutdowns and replacement-related production losses.

  • Comprehensive standard compliance – all products are designed, manufactured, and inspected in strict accordance with internationally recognized standards, with full traceability meeting most engineering procurement specifications.
