Copper Nickel 70/30 Concentric Reducer Pipe Fittings ASME B16.9 Corrosion Resistant
1.Product Description
The Copper Nickel Reducer Fitting is a conical transition component used to connect pipes of different diameters in fluid piping systems. It is manufactured from copper-nickel alloy, with two primary grades available: 90/10 CuNi (UNS C70600, also known as CuNi90/10 or BFe10-1-1) and 70/30 CuNi (UNS C71500, also known as CuNi70/30 or B30). The fitting is supplied in two configurations: Concentric Reducers, which maintain a common centerline, and Eccentric Reducers, which have offset centerlines to facilitate drainage or maintain a flush bottom alignment. The products are designed and manufactured in accordance with international standards such as ASME B16.9, DIN 86089, EEMUA146, and GB/T 12459. End connections include butt weld, socket weld, threaded, and flanged types to suit various installation requirements.
2.Product Applications
These fittings are widely used in civil and industrial piping systems where corrosion resistance and durability are required. Key applications include:
-
Commercial marine and offshore facilities, such as cargo vessels, passenger ships, and offshore production platforms, for seawater cooling, fire mains, ballast water treatment, and process water lines.
-
Desalination and water treatment plants, for intake pipes, reverse-osmosis pre-treatment lines, and brine discharge systems.
-
Power generation plants, including coastal thermal and nuclear stations, for circulating cooling water systems, condenser auxiliary cooling, and industrial water networks.
-
Petrochemical and chemical industries, for heat exchanger interconnections, caustic solution transfer, and organic heat-transfer fluid circuits.
-
Municipal infrastructure, such as large-diameter water mains, district cooling networks, and central air-conditioning chiller piping.
-
Food and beverage processing, where sanitary, contamination-free piping is required.
-
General industrial facilities, including compressed air, cooling water, and process material lines that require diameter transitions.
3.Product Advantages
-
Outstanding corrosion resistance – the alloy forms a stable, dense oxide protective film on the surface, effectively resisting seawater, saline solutions, mild acids, and many chemical agents, with very low susceptibility to pitting and crevice corrosion.
-
Natural anti-biofouling – the copper-nickel material inherently inhibits the attachment and growth of marine and freshwater microorganisms, keeping the inner pipe wall clean and reducing cleaning frequency.
-
Balanced mechanical properties – the material offers high tensile strength, impact toughness, and good ductility, enabling it to withstand pressure fluctuations, water hammer, and thermal expansion/contraction stresses.
-
Weldability – compatible with TIG, MIG, and manual arc welding; weld joints are dense, corrosion-resistant, and match the parent metal in performance, without requiring post-weld heat treatment.
-
Cost-effectiveness over lifecycle – in chloride-containing or high-temperature environments, the service life is typically 3 to 5 times longer than that of carbon steel or ordinary stainless steel fittings, resulting in significant overall savings when considering procurement, installation, maintenance, and replacement costs.
-
Excellent hydraulic performance – the smooth internal taper ensures gradual velocity changes, low local resistance coefficients, and reduced pumping energy consumption.
-
Wide specification coverage – pressure ratings from Class 150 to Class 900 and PN 6 to PN 100, with wall thickness schedules ranging from SCH 5S to XXS, meeting the requirements of most industrial piping designs.
