Brass Compression Reducing Coupling Copper Pipe Fittings, No-Solder Quick Install for Plumbing Systems
1. Product Description
The Brass Compression Reducing Coupling is a high-quality, flame-free pipe fitting designed to connect two copper pipes of different diameters securely and reliably. Manufactured from durable brass, this mechanical jointing solution eliminates the need for soldering, welding, or flaring, making it ideal for installations in tight spaces or heat-sensitive areas. The fitting operates on a simple compression mechanism: as the nut is tightened, the ferrule (or olive) compresses between the nut and the fitting body, creating a strong, leak-proof seal against the tube wall. This product is compliant with EN 1254-2 standards and is WRAS approved for use in potable water systems.

This versatile fitting is suitable for a wide range of applications across domestic, commercial, and industrial settings. It is commonly used in:
-
Plumbing Systems: Connecting different pipe sizes in hot and cold water supply lines.
-
Heating Systems: Ideal for radiator connections and underfloor heating installations.
-
Gas Pipelines: Suitable for low-pressure gas connections (within pressure limits).
-
Compressed Air & Pneumatics: Used for air lines and inert gas applications.
-
Industrial Machinery: For fluid transfer and cooling lines.
4. Product Advantages
-
Flame-Free & Quick Installation: Requires no soldering or special tools, allowing for fast installation even in confined spaces where heat is restricted.
-
Leak-Resistant & Durable: The compression mechanism provides a reliable, long-lasting seal that can be broken and remade without compromising joint integrity.
-
Corrosion-Resistant Brass Construction: Offers excellent durability and resistance to corrosion, ensuring a long service life in various fluid media.
-
Versatile Compatibility: Can connect copper pipes to different materials like steel or plastic pipes, offering flexible system design.

5. Product Function
The primary function of this fitting is to serve as a mechanical reducer, seamlessly joining two pipes of unequal diameters. It enables a secure transition between different pipe sizes, maintaining system integrity and flow within plumbing, heating, and industrial pipework.
6. Usage Instructions
-
Cut the copper pipe squarely and deburr the cut end to ensure a clean surface.
-
Slide the compression nut and then the ferrule (olive) onto the pipe.
-
Insert the pipe fully into the fitting body until it bottoms out.
-
Slide the ferrule and nut towards the fitting body and hand-tighten the nut.
-
Using two properly sized wrenches, tighten the nut. Follow standard tightening practices: for fittings, it is recommended to tighten ¾ of a turn for 1/8" fittings and 1 ¼ turns for 1/4" fittings.
-
After tightening, perform a pressure test to ensure no leaks are present.
7. Safety Precautions & Important Notes
-
Do Not Overtighten: Overtightening can deform the ferrule, damage the fitting body, or crush the tube, leading to leaks or making future disassembly difficult.
-
Do Not Reuse Ferrules: Once compressed, ferrules are deformed to create a seal. Reusing them may result in a poor seal and leaks.
-
Avoid Thread Sealants: The seal is made between the ferrule, tube, and fitting body, not on the threads. Using PTFE tape or pipe dope can interfere with proper sealing and tightening.
-
Ensure Tube Compatibility: Verify that the pipe material and size are compatible with this compression fitting.
