4. Product Advantages
-
Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance: CuNi 70/30 alloy forms a natural protective layer in seawater, providing long-term service with minimal corrosion rates, making it a dependable material for marine environments.
-
Hot Forged Quality: Manufactured through hot forging process, the flange has dense and uniform grain structure with good mechanical strength, offering reliable performance compared to cast alternatives.
-
Natural Anti-Fouling Property: The copper content in the alloy helps reduce marine organism attachment on internal surfaces, keeping pipes cleaner and reducing maintenance needs.
-
Easy and Quick Installation: Socket weld design allows the pipe to be simply inserted into the socket and fillet welded, eliminating complex alignment work and saving installation time.
-
Reliable Sealing Performance: Raised Face design provides an effective sealing surface when used with suitable gaskets, ensuring leak-free connections under rated pressure.
-
Good Weldability: Compatible with CuNi 70/30 pipes using standard TIG welding process with matching filler wire, producing strong and durable weld joints.
-
ASME Standard Compliance: Manufactured to strict ASME B16.5 dimensional tolerances, ensuring proper fit with standard pipes, fittings, gaskets and fasteners.
-
Low Maintenance Cost: The self-forming protective film on the material surface eliminates the need for additional coatings or protective treatments, reducing long-term maintenance expenses.
5. Product Functions
-
Provide a reliable socket weld connection point for pipes in seawater and industrial piping systems
-
Ensure leak-proof sealing with Raised Face design and compatible gaskets
-
Withstand Class 150 working pressure for safe continuous operation
-
Allow convenient disassembly for system inspection, maintenance and modification
-
Support modular piping system design with easy sectional installation
-
Accommodate pipe thermal expansion within system design limits
6. User Instructions
Pre-Installation Preparation:
-
Inspect each flange upon receipt for any signs of transport damage or surface defects.
-
Verify flange size, pressure class and material grade against project specifications.
-
Clean the socket bore and raised face sealing surface thoroughly using suitable solvent.
-
Check that pipe end outside diameter matches socket bore dimensions.
-
Use dedicated tools for copper-nickel material preparation to avoid cross contamination.
Installation Steps:
-
Insert the pipe fully into the flange socket until the pipe end reaches the socket bottom.
-
Withdraw the pipe approximately 1.6mm to create proper expansion gap.
-
Ensure the pipe is square to the flange face and properly centered.
-
Tack weld at minimum 4 equally spaced positions around the hub circumference.
-
Complete the fillet weld using TIG welding process with ERCuNi filler wire.
-
Use argon shielding gas during welding for proper protection.
-
Keep interpass temperature moderate, avoid overheating the material.
-
Clean weld area thoroughly after completing each pass.
Gasket and Bolt Installation:
-
Select gasket material suitable for the service medium and operating conditions.
-
Center the gasket on the raised face sealing surface.
-
Insert bolts and hand-tighten all nuts.
-
Tighten bolts evenly in a diagonal crossing pattern.
-
Apply torque in minimum 3 passes to achieve uniform gasket compression.
Post-Installation Inspection:
-
Perform visual inspection of all socket welds for surface defects.
-
Conduct pressure test as per project specifications.
-
Check all flange joints for any signs of leakage.
7. Product Precautions
-
Storage: Store flanges in a clean, dry and ventilated indoor area. Keep away from moisture, dust and direct outdoor exposure.
-
Material Separation: During storage and transport, keep CuNi flanges separated from carbon steel and other dissimilar metals to prevent contact corrosion.
-
Handle with Care: CuNi material is softer than steel. Avoid dropping, dragging or impacting during handling to prevent surface damage.
-
No Ammonia Service: CuNi 70/30 should not be used in environments containing ammonia or amine compounds, as this may cause material degradation.
-
Welding Protection: Always use argon shielding gas when welding CuNi material. Inadequate shielding will result in poor weld quality.
-
Dedicated Tools: Use separate tools, brushes and grinding wheels reserved for copper-nickel work to prevent iron contamination.
-
Flow Velocity: For seawater service, it is advisable to keep continuous flow velocity within reasonable limits to maximize service life.
-
System Compatibility: In piping systems, maintain material consistency where possible. If connecting to dissimilar metals, take appropriate isolation measures.
