1. Product Description

Copper Nickel Flange is manufactured from premium CuNi 70/30 (UNS C71500) raw material through forging process, featuring socket weld connection type. The product is manufactured in strict accordance with ASME B16.5 standard, with pressure rating of Class 150 (150LB). Due to its excellent seawater corrosion resistance and anti-biofouling properties, copper nickel alloy flanges are widely used in shipbuilding, seawater desalination, offshore oil platforms, chemical heat exchangers and other marine and industrial applications. This product features Raised Face sealing surface to ensure reliable sealing performance in pipeline connections.

6. User Instructions

Pre-Installation Preparation:

  1. Inspect flange appearance, confirm no cracks, deformation, rust or other defects.

  2. Verify flange size, pressure rating, and material identification against design drawings.

  3. Clean flange weld end and sealing surface, removing oil, oxide scale and other impurities.

Installation Steps:

  1. Insert pipe into flange socket, ensuring proper insertion depth (per ASME B16.5 socket depth requirements).

  2. Leave 1.6mm expansion gap (distance between pipe end and socket bottom) to avoid welding stress concentration.

  3. Use TIG or MIG welding process with compatible CuNi filler metal (e.g., ERCuNi welding wire).

  4. Control interpass temperature not exceeding 150°C during welding to avoid alloy element burn-off from overheating.

  5. Use PTFE or graphite-reinforced gasket for sealing surface, tighten bolts evenly in diagonal sequence.

Post-Installation Inspection:

  1. Conduct penetrant or radiographic testing on welds to ensure no welding defects.

  2. System hydrostatic test pressure shall be 1.5 times design pressure, hold for 30 minutes without leakage.


7. Product Precautions

  1. Avoid Direct Contact with Carbon Steel: Copper-nickel alloy in contact with carbon steel may cause galvanic corrosion, must be stored and transported separately.

  2. Avoid Ammonia-Containing Media: Copper alloys are prone to stress corrosion cracking in ammonia environments, strictly prohibited for ammonia systems.

  3. Welding Shielding Gas Requirement: Argon gas protection must be used during welding to prevent weld oxidation and porosity.

  4. Avoid Excessive Seawater Flow Velocity: Although CuNi 70/30 has excellent erosion-corrosion resistance, continuous flow velocity is recommended not to exceed 3.5m/s.

  5. Avoid Dissimilar Metal Mixing: Piping systems should maintain material uniformity to avoid galvanic corrosion risks. If dissimilar metal connection is required, insulating joints must be installed.

  6. No Post-Weld Heat Treatment Required: CuNi alloy generally does not require post-weld heat treatment, but welding spatter and oxides must be removed.

  7. Storage Environment Requirements: Store in dry and ventilated indoor area, avoid outdoor exposure and rain, ambient humidity ≤ 60%.
