1. Product Description

The Copper Nickel Equal Tee is a three-way fitting with equal bores, designed specifically for perpendicular equal-diameter branch connections in piping systems. Manufactured from copper-nickel alloy (Cu-Ni 90/10 or 70/30) by seamless cold drawing or hot extrusion. Compliant with ASTM B466, ASME B16.9, and BS 2871, it offers excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, erosion, and biofouling, making it a key component in shipbuilding, offshore, and chemical piping systems.

2. Product Applications

  • Ship systems:Main engine cooling water, ballast water fill/discharge, fire hydrant supply, deck washing lines

3.Installation & Precautions

  • Unpacking inspection:Check for transit damage; verify markings are clear and complete.

  • Surface preparation:Clean bevel and 30mm of inner/outer wall area with stainless steel wire brush before welding; remove all oil and paint.

  • Butt welding:Maximum permissible misalignment during fit-up is 10% of wall thickness, not exceeding 1.5mm. Use low current and fast welding to avoid overheating.

  • Socket weld:Insert pipe fully to socket bottom then pull back approx. 2mm to avoid stress concentration at root.

  • Threaded connection:Wrap PTFE tape 2-3 turns; hand-tighten then wrench-tighten no more than 1.5 turns.

  • Pressure test requirement:Hydrotest pressure = 1.5× design pressure; ambient temperature should not be <5℃ during test.

  • Prohibitions:

    • Do not contact with low-melting-point metals such as zinc, cadmium, or lead.

    • Not for strong oxidizing acids (e.g., fuming nitric acid).

    • Do not force alignment during installation to avoid additional stress.
